Auberge Resorts is set to add a new hotel to its portfolio and is taking over Cambridge House in London, Bloomberg reported on Thursday.
Located in Mayfair, the Grade I listed 18th century property, which was once a royal residence, will open next year as a 102-room Auberge Resorts Collection hotel.
Auberge plans to preserve features such as the 19-foot-high ceilings, original fireplaces and ornate plasterwork. Suites will be decorated in a range of colour schemes that borrow from the original Georgian aesthetic, overlooking the king’s current residence, with windows facing the parks.
The hotel will also comprise a Roman bathhouse-inspired wellness area set over two floors, a relaxation areas with a firepit, a private members club and multiple restaurants
The project is part of a regeneration of 1.3 acres along the southern stretch of Mayfair by Reuben Brothers.
The new hotel will be the first UK property from Auberge Resorts Collection.
What they said
Richard Arnold, chief development officer at Auberge said: “London’s a great city, a great market, and it’s been on our list for a very long time. But we wanted to ensure that we had a one-of-a-kind property that truly matched the direction of our brand. For us to be a part of Cambridge House’s next chapter is incredibly special, given its unique history and deep legacy in Mayfair. We’re crafting a product that will resonate deeply with Londoners. We want it to be a social hub for Mayfair.”
