Salboy is set to add a high-end hotel to its skyscraper in Manchester.
Last year, the developer unveiled plans to erect Viadux 2a, a 76-storey skyscraper with 780 flats next to the Manchester Central Convention Complex. However, Salboy has now updated its plans, adding a 160-room upmarket hotel in a move away from a purely residential building.
The hotel’s inclusion on the lower floors will see the number of apartments reduced from 782 to 452, with Salboy revealing that the hotel will be operated by an “exciting global brand”.
If the updated proposals are approved by Manchester City Council, the building will be the city’s tallest and the tallest skyscraper in the UK outside London.
What they said
Simon Ismail, managing director & co-founder at Salboy said: “The addition of the hotel will not only elevate the development but also support Manchester’s growing tourism and visitor economy. This mixed-use development will be easily accessible by public transport and ensure that the benefits of the development extend across the city, contributing to Manchester’s ongoing growth and transformation.”
