Hyatt Hotels has inked an exclusive partnership deal with Under Canvas, an upscale outddor hospitality provider in the US.
Under the partnership, World of Hyatt loyalty program members will have access to experiences and stays at Under Canvas’ 13 outdoor resorts spread across the US such as in Montana’s Yellowstone National Park, Tennessee’s Great Smoky Mountains, Acadia National Park in Maine, Bryce Canyon National Park in Utah and the Grand Canyon. The company’s Yosemite National Park resort in California is set to open in May 2025.
Hyatt’s partnership with Under Canvas also extends to the travel provider’s luxury outdoor resort brand ULUM which opened its first location in Moab, Utah last year.
Why it matters
In 2021, we wrote that the wellness retreat industry and outdoor hospitality would see a spike in demand post-lockdown and it seems many hotel companies and investors are now seeking to secure a slice of the pie. In February, Hilton announced an exclusive partnership with premier outdoor hospitality company AutoCamp, Island Hospitality Management launched outdoor and resort hospitality-focused division IHM Outdoors in January, and in February Swiss Life Asset Managers France acquired Les Vallons de l'Océan, a campsite located in La Plaine-sur-Mer, France. These, and Hyatt join the likes of KSL Capital Partners, Belmond and Blackstone, who have also ventured into the space.
What they said
Mark Vondrasek, chief commercial officer at Hyatt said: “Travelers are looking for new and unique experiences to reconnect with nature in off-the-beaten-path locations. By adding these luxury outdoor camps to World of Hyatt, we are bringing more memorable travel experiences for our guests and members. Hyatt offers one of the fastest-growing luxury portfolios globally and with the inclusion of these incredible Under Canvas camps in World of Hyatt, we continue to double down on this focus and bring immense value to our rapidly growing member base.”
